The term ‘We’ refers to the relevant member of the company processing your personal information.
Morse Business Finance Limited has contractual arrangements with selected lenders and banks who provide the finance requested by individuals, sole traders, partnerships, LLPs and Limited Companies referred to in this privacy policy. These selected lenders and banks own their own Privacy Policies which will be made available to all applicants before any contractual arrangements are concluded.
What Is Personal Data
Personal data is any information that identifies you as an individual whether alone or combined with any other information. This includes any of the following which is not an exhaustive list:
- Name
- Gender
- Date of Birth
- Country of birth
- Address / history
- National Insurance number
- Employment / self-employment history and employer
- Sole trader / partnership business accounts that are not in the public domain
- Contact information including email address, telephone number, social media detail
- Personal Tax Reference
- Bank details / statements of current account, any savings or investments
- Passport / driving licence information
- Device IP addresses
- Any user ID or passwords
- Memberships
- Religious or political beliefs (only recorded if appropriate)
- Health (only recorded if appropriate)
How We Collect Personal Data

- Received from third parties eg banks, lenders or companies house
- Data already in the system
We may monitor or record phone calls with you for training purposes and to ensure we are complying with all regulatory requirements, resolving any issues / complaints, improving the quality of our service, and help detect fraud or other crimes.
What We Do With Personal Data
Where you are an individual, sole trader, partnership, LLP or Limited Company director / shareholder and have consented we will throughout the handling of your personal data:
- Record and store your personal data in our computer systems (email, hard drive and cloud based), mobile devices and paper files. This information will be assessed by employees of Morse Business Finance Limited only when it is necessary to provide our services to you and to perform any administration tasks associated with that service.
- Submit your personal data to selected lenders and banks online and in paper form. Providing this information to a third party is essential in allowing us to progress any application or enquiry made on your behalf and to deal with any additional questions that lenders or banks may raise.
- Provide direct marketing via email, phone, post and social media of other products provided by Morse Business Finance Limited.
- Use your personal data for the above purposes if we deem it necessary to do so for our legitimate interests. If you are not satisfied with this, you have the right to object in certain circumstances – see ‘Your Rights’ section.
Who We Share Your Personal Data With
We will share your personal data with our third party selected lenders and banks who require the information before deciding whether to lend to you or your business. We have a contract in place with all third party selected funders and banks that requires them to keep your data secure and not to use it other than in accordance with our specific instructions. It does not entitle such third parties to send you marketing or promotional material.
These third parties will speak to Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs) to carry out credit checks on you and record details of your repayment history. You can access a notice called ‘Credit Reference Agency Information Notice (CRAIN) which explains how your data will be processed by the 3 CRAs namely Equifax, Experian and TransUnion.

If you are representing a Limited Company we may also share your information with Creditsafe based at Bryn House, Caerphilly Business Park, Van Road, Caerphilly, CF83 3GR
You have the right to see the information held by these CRAs. You can contact them directly and they will explain how to proceed and what costs may be incurred.
We and / or our selected lending partners and banks will also share your data with fraud prevention agencies including the National Crime Agency, Action Fraud and the Home Office to protect us from fraud and money laundering. We may also pass information to financial and other organisations involved in fraud prevention including law enforcement agencies who may also access and use this information to detect, investigate and prevent crime.
We will share your information if we and / or our selected funding partners and banks decide that you pose a fraud or money laundering risk or if our processing reveals your behaviour to be consistent with that of known fraudsters or money launderers, or is inconsistent with your previous credit applications, or you have deliberately hidden your true identity. Children’s Privacy
We will not target particular products to different age groups intentionally and our website is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18 without the agreement and involvement of a parent or guardian.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. Where we are able to identify that an individual under the age of 18 has used our services from the credit application (date of birth section) we will ensure that the application is stopped and any data already collected erased immediately.
Keeping Data Secure
We have adopted appropriate organisational and technical measures to protect the personal data we collect and use having regard to the state of the art, the nature of the data stored and the risks to which the data is exposed to human action or the physical or natural environment. However, as effective as our security measures are, no security operation is impenetrable. We can therefore not guarantee the security of our database.
Our website is not interactive www.morsebusinessfinance.co.uk therefore no information flows through it to have any consequences on your security / protection of personal data.
Data Retention
If you have expressed an interest in buying a product/s from us and our selected lenders and banks, we will retain your contact details and related information concerning your enquiry for 7 years following the last contact with you.
If you have purchased a product/s from us and our selected lenders and banks, we will keep the data relating to that purchase (eg finance document and supplier invoice) for the term of the agreement plus 7 years from the commencement of the contract.
These periods may be extended if required to do so by law. We and our selected lenders and banks will keep your personal data for research, fraud prevention, money laundering, capital, liquidity risk, statistical analysis and business forecasting purposes. When this happens we will make sure that your privacy is protected and we will only use it for these purposes.
Transferring Your Data Outside Of The UK
Some or all of your personal information may be transferred to, stored or processed by service providers of ours or our selected lenders and banks located in countries outside of the United Kingdom.
In these circumstances we will take the necessary steps to ensure that the transfer of your data is in line with UK Data Protection Law and that your information is treated securely and protected to a similar standard. We may need to transfer your information in this way to carry out our contract with you, to fulfil a legal obligation, to protect the public interest and/or for our legitimate interests.
If we do transfer information outside the UK we will ensure it is protected in the same way as it would in the UK.
Whenever fraud prevention agencies transfer your personal data outside of the European Economic Area (EEA), they impose contractual obligations on the recipients of that data to protect your personal data to the standards required in the EEA. They may also require the recipient to subscribe to international frameworks intended to enable secure data sharing.
Your Rights
You have various rights in relation to your data:
Right to access –you have the right to request copies of any data we hold about you at any time, whether it has been modified, updated or deleted. We won’t charge you for this request unless your request is manifestly unfounded or excessive. Where we are legally permitted to do so, we may refuse your request but will tell you the reason/s why.
Right to rectify – you have the right to rectify and correct any inaccurate / incomplete or out of date data at no cost to you.
Right to erase – you have the right to request that we delete or remove your personal data from our files where there is compelling reason for it to be held.
Right to restrict our use of your personal data – you have the right to block us from using your data or restrict what can be processed providing it meets the requirements set out in law
Right to data portability – you have the right to move, copy or transfer personal data. If you request we will supply you with the relevant data in a format which is readily accessible by most other computers.
Right to object – you have the right to object with how we are using your personal data and, where any automated decisioning and profiling is used, to request human intervention. This is where you are contesting a credit decision that a bank / funder has provided via us and using profiling / Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs) to provide an outcome. This may not change the outcome of the initial automated credit decision.
